PONTUS, Amisus(?). Ca. 31 BC. Æ (21mm, 8.26 g, 12h). Bare head right; Q (quaestor) below / Two togate figures standing facing, sacrificing a pig; FETIA below. RPC I 2156; P. Sánchez, “Une émission monétaire inédited’ Amisos, ciuitas libera et foederatasous le Principat.” Revue Numismatique 178, 2021, pp. 115-36; Imhoof-Blumer, GRMK 281; Leypold, “Schwurszene (Fetia) auf einer unbekannten römischen Bronzemünze,” MÖNG Vol. XX, no. 10 (1978), pp. 78-79 = SNG Leypold 69. Dark green patina, roughness. VF.

P. Sánchez finally puts to rest the argument of the mint and dating of this enigmatic issue. His confirmation is based on the link between RPC I 2156 and 2156A, the latter which bears the ethnic of Amisus. He identifies the reverse portrait of 2156A with the deified Caesar and says that the issue commemorates the liberation of the city by Julius Caesar in 47 BC, then by Octavian in 31-30. Both RPC 2156 and 2156A share the same portrait of Octavian, and although 2156 lacks the city ethnic, the die linkage makes the attribution to the city all but certain.
