Gordian III. AD 238-244. Æ As (21mm, 9.42 g, 12h). Rome mint, 5th officina. 11th emission, AD 243. Laureate, draped, and cuirassed bust left / Apollo seated left, holding branch and resting elbow on lyre. RIC IV 304c. Dark green-brown patina, a few scratches. Fine. Extremely rare with bust left, none in CoinArchives, the first CNG has handled (there were none in the extensive Gordian III collection of George His, which included many extreme rarities of Gordian III).
