Al-Husayn b. Ahmad was a relative of the ‘Alid al-Hasan b. Zayd, but rebelled against his kinsman and established himself in Qazwin during the early 250s AH. He was driven out by an Abbasid force under Musa b. Bugha in the year AH 253.
