SICILY, Katane. Circa 450-445 BC. AR Tetradrachm (24.5mm, 17.18 g, 12h). Charioteer, holding kentron in right hand and reins in both, driving slow quadriga right / Head of Apollo right, wearing laurel wreath; KATA[NAI-O]-N around. Mirone 30–3; HGC 2, 566 (this coin illustrated); SNG ANS 1245 (same dies); SNG Lloyd 892 (same obv. die); Boston MFA Supp. 22 = Pozzi 410; Gillet 381; Gulbenkian 177 (same dies); Kraay & Hirmer 35 (same dies); Rizzo pl. X, 3 (same dies). Old cabinet tone. VF. Fine style.
