LYDIA, Tralleis. Circa 166-67 BC. AR Tetradrachm (26.5mm, 12.53 g, 12h). Cistophoric standard. Cista mystica with serpent; all within ivy wreath / Two serpents entwined around bow and bowcase; star above, TPAΛ to left; to right, radiate head of Helios right; monogram below. Kleiner & Noe Series 39 var. (monogram), obv. die 70; Kurth –; SNG Copenhagen –; SNG von Aulock 3257 var. (same; same obv. die); SNG Fitzwilliam 4900 var. (same; same obv. die); BMC 26 var. (same). Toned, slightly off center on reverse. EF. Well struck. Very rare variety.
