SASANIAN KINGS. Yazdgird (Yazdgard) I. AD 399-420. AR Drachm (16mm, 1.47 g, 3h). Bust right [on floral ornament], wearing mural crown with frontal crescent and korymbos / Fire altar with ribbons; flanked by two attendants; traces of l'st in Pahlavi on altar shaft. SNS type Ib1/1a, Var. 4 and pl. 56, 77 = Berlin, 1876 Guthrie; Sunrise –. Toned, clipped down to below the weight of a hemidrachm. VF. Very rare.

Though this piece at first glance appears to have been simply modified for use in jewelry, the presence of a very similarly reduced weight coin in the Berlin collection suggests that this is not a one off oddity.
