Ex Harlan J. Berk and Victor England (7 December 1989), lot 303; M.D. O’Hara Collection.

This extremely rare follis of Constantine V, one of only two recorded, is the last official issue struck at Ravenna, the Byzantine capital in Italy. Dated RY 30 (AD 750), it was issued only one year before the city was captured by the Lombards under their king, Aistulf, and the last exarch was executed, ending almost two centuries of Byzantine presence there.
