(1961) Confederate States of America Cent, Bashlow Restrike, Defaced Dies. Dated 1861. . About as struck. Brown obverse with some green deposits. The reverse is full mint red.

About 1961 the original dies were copied and coins were struck by Robert Bashlow, a coin dealer in New York City. Characteristics of these are rust marks and dramatic die breaks. This coin comes with a brown envelope printed with these words: “2nd RESTRIKE/ Of The/ CONFEDERATE CENT/ From The/ ORIGINAL DIES/ Engraved by/ ROBERT LOVETT/ BRONZE/ 20,000 STRUCK”.
