Terracotta counterfeiter’s mold. Roman, 4th century AD. (31 mm, 4.98 g). Part of a mold for casting coins, impressed on both sides with an obverse of Galerius and Licinius I, both from Alexandria. Cf. CNG E-334, lots 520-527 (for similar types). Small edge chips, flan flaw, otherwise intact. |
