CALABRIA, Tarentum. Circa 280-272 BC. AR Nomos (21.5mm, 6.55 g, 11h). Warrior, nude but for helmet, holding shield and two spears in left hand, preparing to cast a third held aloft in his right, on horseback right; EY to left, ΦINTYΛOΣ below / Phalanthos, nude, riding dolphin left, cradling trident in left arm and holding in extended right hand Nike, who crowns him with wreath held in both her hands; ΠOΛY to left, TAPAΣ to right; below, prow left. Vlasto 720–2; HN Italy 1002. EF, attractive deep cabinet tone, with iridescence around the devices, slightly off center on reverse.
