IONIA, Smyrna. Britannius. AD 41-55. Æ 17mm (3.38 g). Bare-headed and draped bust right /
EPI FILISTOU EIKADIO-S, Nike walking right, holding trophy over shoulder. RPC I 2476; Klose 23 (V8/R23); SNG Copenhagen 1351 (same obverse die); SNG von Aulock 7995. Near VF, brown surfaces, minor porosity.
From the Garth R. Drewry Collection.
The authors of RPC dispute Klose's identification of the head on this coin as Britannicus and instead identify it as Nero. Without an inscription, either could be a possibility.
