ARABIA FELIX, Himyarites & Sabaeans. Imitating Athens. Circa 3rd Century BC. AR Drachm (15mm, 4.06 g). Helmeted head of Athena right; Sabaean "D" on cheek / Owl standing right. Munro-Hay-; SNG ANS-. Good VF, toned, scratches on beak of owl.

The early Athenian types from Arabia are marked with Sabaean letters on Athena’s cheek, for 1, 1/2, 1/4 and 1/8 local units of about 5.30 g. This piece, apparently unrecorded, is marked with a ”D”, and is the correct weight for an Attic drachm.
