ITALY. Hadrian and Antinoüs. Circa 17th-19th centuries. Æ Hollow-Cast Ornamental Medallion (34.46 g). Diademed head of Hadrian and bare head of Antinoüs left conjoined, on oval granular field; corded border / Hollow blank. Good VF, beautiful brown patina, hole in Hadrian’s cheek for mounting. A beautiful neoclassical medallion meant to ornament some expensive piece of furniture.
