ROMAN. Imperial. Bronze Figurine of Mercury. 2nd-3rd century AD. Cast figurine of Mercury, wearing chlamys and winged petasus, holding purse and winged caduceus. Originally attached to a base (lost), the figure would have been placed in the shrine alongside the Lares and Penates to attract good fortune. Length 70mm. Cf. Windholz, Carnuntum p. 348. Choice condition, green patina.
