The firm had been known as Otto Helbing, Nachfolgers (Successors) since the death of Otto in 1911. Starting with auction 79 in June, 1939 Karl Kreß was named as Inhaber (Proprietor). Kreß continued the business under his own name, keeping the numbered sequence, beginning with catalogue 89 in April, 1944.
