KINGS of MACEDON. Alexander III ‘the Great’. 336-323 BC. AR Tetradrachm (24mm, 16.92 g). Sardes mint. Struck circa 319-315 BC. Head of Herakles right, wearing lion skin / Zeus Aëtophoros seated left; torch (?) to left, globule (?) under throne seat, A under under single strut. Cf. Price 2632. VF, tight flan. It is unclear whether the globule is a field mark, or simply the terminal of the robe of Zeus. Price does not mention it, nor does he note whether the single or double strut on the throne is of any significance.
