SASANIAN KINGS. Hormizd II. AD 303-309. AR Drachm (28mm, 4.05 g). Crowned bust right; crown with eagle and korymbos / Fire altar with attendants and garlands; bare-headed bust left in flames, two pellets to upper left. Göbl I/1a. EF.
Hormizd II, son of Narseh, enjoyed an unremarkable reign virtually devoid of events worthy of recording in the chronicles. The monumental rock sculptures at Naqsh-i-Rustam are some of the few memorials to his rule.
