SICILY, Syracuse. Timoleon and the Third Democracy. 344-317 BC. Æ Tetras (3.33 g, 2h). Timoleontic Symmachy issue. Struck circa 339/8-334 BC. AS-KLHP-I-O, bearded and laureate head of Asklepios left / Hound standing left, forepaw raised; monogram above. CNS 84; SNG ANS -; SNG Morcom 721. VF, black patina with patches of green encrustation. Very rare, and exceptional for issue.

All of the standard references refer to the obverse of this coin as Zeus, but the reading of the legend on this specimen clearly identifies the head as that of Asklepios.
