Julius Caesar. January-February 44 BC. AR Denarius (3.75 g, 11h). Rome mint. M. Mettius, moneyer. Laureate head right; lituus and simpulum behind / Venus standing left, holding Victory and scepter, leaning on shield set on globe; K to left. Crawford 480/3; Alföldi Type III, 90 (A7/R30); CRI 100; Sydenham 1056; RSC 34. Good VF, toned, several bankers’ marks on obverse, areas of flat strike.
