SYRIA, Seleucis and Pieria. Emesa. Uranius Antoninus. Usurper, AD 253-254. Æ 32mm (17.94 g, 12h). Dated SE 565 (AD 253/4). Laureate, draped, and cuirassed bust right, seen from behind / Sacred stone of Emesa, decorated with eagle standing right, head left, with wings displayed, parasol on either side, all within wide intercolumnation of hexastyle temple set on two-tiered base; upturned crescent in pediment, architectural decoration along roof line; [date in exergue]. Baldus 43 (dies I/6); Delbrueck Series I, 2. Fine, black-green patina with earthen overtones, typical rough surfaces. Rare.
