BITHYNIA, Nicaea. Severus Alexander. AD 222-235. Æ 21mm (4.73 g). Laureate and draped bust right, seen from behind / Legionary eagle between two stndards. Cf. RG 616; cf. SNG Copenhagen 519; SNG von Aulock -. Near VF, greenish-brown patina.
The obverse die is of unusually fine style for this mint, reminding this cataloger more of the products of Rome than Nicaea. Could this engraver come from Rome?
