CALABRIA, Tarentum. Circa 325-280 BC. AR Diobol (1.30 g, 12h). Head of Herakles facing slightly left, wearing lion skin; club to left / Herakles standing right, wrestling the Nemean Lion; club to left, F between legs of Herakles. Vlasto 1348 (same dies); HN Italy 977; SNG ANS -; SNG Lloyd -; SNG France 2112 (same dies); SNG Ashmolean 476. Good VF, attractive dark iridescent toning, reverse struck a little off center, as usual. A bold miniature portrait of Herakles.
