SICILY, Syracuse. Second Democracy. 466-405 BC. AR Tetradrachm (17.33 g, 6h). Struck circa 466-460 BC. Charioteer driving quadriga right, holding kentron in right hand, reins in both; above, Nike flying right, crowning horses with laurel wreath; in exergue, ketos right / SVRAKOSI-O-N, diademed head of Arethusa right, wearing single-pendant earring and necklace; four dolphins around. Boehringer series XIVa, 481 (V256/R345); SNG ANS 149 (same dies); SNG Lloyd 1314 (same obv. die); BMC 72 (same dies); SNG München 1012 (same dies). EF, underlying luster, obverse struck a little softly.
