NABATAEA. Aretas IV, with Shaqilat. 9 BC-AD 40. Æ 17mm (2.71 g, 11h). Undated, struck AD 16. Aretas, in military attire, standing facing, head left, holding spear in right hand, left hand on hilt of sword; palm frond to left, Aramaic monogram to right / “Shaqilat” in Aramaic in three lines to right, Shaqilat, veiled, standing facing, head left, raising right hand; wreath to left. Meshorer, Nabataea 97; Schmitt-Korte II 66. EF, attractive green patina. Very rare in this condition, exceptional for type.
