INDIA, Kushan Empire. Vima Kadphises. Circa AD 100-127/8. AV Dinar (7.97 g, 12h). Mint A. 4th emission. BACILEYC OOHMO KADFICHC, diademed and crowned half-length bust of Vima Kadphises right on clouds, holding in right hand a mace-scepter over his shoulder; flames at shoulder, tamgha to left / “maharajasa rajadirajasa trarvaloga iśvarasa mahiśvarasa hima kathphśasa tradara” in Karosthi, ithyphallic Siva standing facing, head left, holding trident in right hand, lion skin draped over left arm; tamgha to left, Buddhist Triratana (“Three Jewels”) to right. MK 16 (O2/R7 [unlisted die combination]); Donum Burns 80 (same obv. die). Good VF. Extremely rare, only five known to Göbl.


Reverse die 7 was previously known for MK 15 and 17, but had not been known for MK 16 until the discovery of the present coin.
