Augustus. 27 BC-AD 14. AR Denarius (3.89 g, 9h). Spanish mint - Tarraco. Struck circa 20/19-17/6 BC. Laureate head right / CAESAR above, AVGVSTVS below, S P Q R around, round shield inscribed CL • V; two laurel branches (or trees) flanking. Cf. RIC I 52a (aureus); RSC 51; BMCRE 354-55 = BMCRR Rome 4446-7; cf. BN 1333-6 (Gaul mint). VF, toned, a little porous, banker’s mark on obverse. Rare. Recorded in RIC only as an aureus.
