Elagabalus. AD 218-222. AR Denarius (3.38 g, 12h). Antioch mint. Struck AD 218-220. ANTONINVS PIVS FEL AVG, laureate, draped, and cuirassed bust right / SANCT DCO (sic) S-OL-I, ELAGABAL in exergue, Slow quadriga right, bearing the sacred, conical Stone of Emesa, upon which is an eagle, surrounded by four sacred parasols. RIC IV 195 var. (rev. legend); cf. Thirion 360; RSC 268 var. (same); BMCRE 285 var. (same); J. Schulman 258 (10 June 1974), lot 1883 (same rev. die). EF, a hint of toning around the legends. Apparently the second known with misspelled legend.
