UNCERTAIN GERMANIC TRIBES. Late 5th century AD. AV Tremissis (1.32 g, 6h). In the name of Julius Nepos. Ravenna mint. D N IVL NE-POS P F ΛVC, pearl-diademed, draped, and cuirassed bust right / Cross within wreath, rosette at apex; COMOB. Unpublished. Good VF, a couple light marks.

The stylized bust, crude epigraphy, and rosette jewel on the reverse are distinctly different from Nepos’ issues at the official mints. Although this piece is clearly an issue of a Germanic tribe, these elements are also dissimilar to their known issues.
