“Theotokos” is a title of Mary, translating literally as “God-bearer”, that is, one who gives birth to God. “Panagia” means “most holy” and also refers to a particular type of icon of the Theotokos portrayed full-length with her hands in the orans position and with the image of the Christ child in front of her chest.
