Dated 1731/0. • Б • M • AHHA • IMПEPATPIЦA • ICAMOДEPЖEЦA • BCEPOCICKAЯ, crowned and cuirassed bust right; no brooch on breast / MOHETA P(OУ)БЛЬ 1731/0, crowned double-headed imperial eagle facing with wings displayed, holding scepter and orb; coat-of-arms of Moskva framed by Order of St. Andrei Первозванного (the First Called) on breast; above, imperial crown. On edge: chain stitch. Bitkin 33; cf. Severin 1060; cf. Uzdenikov 700. NGC photo graded MS 62, in very high relief and an extraordinary example with very nice original patina and lovely fields. Uncirculated. A unique type for 1731, as it has no brooch on her dress. Bitkin gives this date a Rarity 1.

Anna was was the niece of Petr I through his half-brother, Ivan V. She came to the throne upon the death of Petr II and ruled successfully for ten years, winning militarily against the Ottomans and in the War of Polish Succession.
