NORMAN. William II Rufus. 1087-1100. AR Penny (1.17 g, 6h). Voided cross type (BMC III). Oxford mint; uncertain moneyer. Struck circa 1092-1095. [+P]ILLELM RE(?), crowned facing bust; stars flanking / +[...]R ON OXNIE[...], voided cross pattée, with annulet in center, over cross annulettée. SCBI -; BMC -; EMC -; North 853; SCBC 1260. Good VF, toned, areas of flat strike. Very rare.
Probably an issue of the moneyer Brithred, whose name is known on the previous type at Oxford.
