CENTRAL ASIAN. Ancient India. Gold nose ring with pendillia. 10th-12th century AD. (Length: 34mm, 5.49 g). Hollow-work gold central design in the form of a Hamsa bird decorated with garnet and other, now-lost gemstones, topped with ivory-bead ornaments (one now lost), with four wrapped wire pendillia below, each one ending with an ivory bead. Clip on reverse for attachment to nostril. Choice condition with traces of encrustation within voids. Very attractive.
