SICILY, Syracuse. Dionysios I. 405-367 BC. AR Tetradrachm (17.27 g, 9h). Unsigned dies by Kimon. Struck circa 405 BC. Charioteer driving fast quadriga left; above. Nike flying right, crowning charioteer; in exergue, dolphin left / Head of Arethusa left; four dolphins around. Tudeer 105 (V36/R72); SNG ANS -; BMC 207 (same dies); Boston MFA 442. Good VF, dark gray toning with areas of light iridescence. Wonderful elegant style.
