Octavian. 35/4 BC. AR Denarius (3.86 g, 6h). Spanish or northern Italian mint traveling with Octavian in Illyricum. Bare head right / Round shield with three concentric rows of studs and central boss. RIC I 543a; CRI 392; RSC 126. VF, gray and gold toning, light porosity, a couple of marks on the cheek beneath tone.
Giard, in Monnaies de l’Empire romain, dates this issue to 27-26 BC.
