UNCERTAIN GERMANIC TRIBES. 6th century AD. AV Tremissis (1.39 g, 6h). Imitating solidus types of Anastasius I. Helmeted and cuirassed bust facing slightly right, holding spear and shield; pseudo-legend around / Victory standing right, holding long cross; stars flanking; pseudo-legend around. Apparently unpublished. VF, some areas of weak strike, twice holed and plugged in antiquity.
This intriguing issue is significant in that it copies solidus types on a tremissis flan.
