ROMAN. Imperial. Bronze Statuette of Mercury. Circa 1st century AD. Statuette of a youthful Mercury on a round base, in contropposto stance, wearing diadem and chlamys draped over shoulders and left arm, holding winged caduceus in left hand and purse in broken right hand. Hole in top of head, probably a socket for a detachable winged helmet. Height: 11cm. Nice piece with mottled patina, right hand and top of caduceus broken.
