186, Lot: 167. Estimate $150.
Sold for $112. This amount does not include the buyer’s fee.

Domitian. As Caesar, AD 69-81. Æ Dupondius (27mm, 13.84 g). Rome mint. Struck AD 73-74. Laureate and draped bust right / Felicitas standing left, holding caduceus and cornucopia. RIC II 658 (Vespasian); BMCRE pg. 157, * (note) (Vespasian). VF, green patina, light scuff on Felicitas.

RIC calls this issue with the draped bust a dupondius but lists the same reverse type with the undraped bust as an as, whereas the authors of BMC refer to it as an as. The patina on this coin is thick and no bare metal is visible to enable a more certain determination.
