BRITISH. Great Seal of William IV (1831-1838). Wax seal of of William IV designed by Benjamin Wyon, Chief Engraver of His Majesty’s Seals. Each side measuring roughly 15.3cm. Obv.: GUILIELMUS • QUARTUS • DEI • GRATIA • BRITANNIARUM • REX • FIDEI • DEFENSOR, William on horseback right, wearing robe of the Order of the Garter, holding scepter; horse draped with lion’s skin; behind, two warships; in exergue, wreath around trident. Rev.: William enthroned, facing slightly right, head left; above, coat of arms; to left, Peace and Plenty seated, Britannia standing facing; to right, Justice and Religion seated, Neptune standing facing; in exergue, caduceus and floral arrangement; all within wreath border. Mounted and framed, possibly by the W. & J. Sloane company. Includes Sloane ticket. VF condition, with some minor deposits. Extra postage will apply.
