IONIA, Teos. Circa 510-475 BC. AR Stater (11.98 g). Griffin seated right, raising foreleg; M E below, flanking other foreleg / Quadripartite incuse square. Balcer group IV corr. (A12/P16); SNG von Aulock -; SNG Copenhagen -; Traité I 500. Good VF, lightly toned, tiny metal flaw on knee of griffin. Well centered and struck.

Balcer failed to note the M on the obverses of his group IV staters (although it is clearly visible on his example 12b = Traité I 500).
