Theophilus, with Michael II and Constantine. 829-842. Æ Follis (16mm, 2.65 g, 6h). Syracuse mint. Struck circa 830/1-842. Crowned facing bust of Theophilus, holding cross potent / Crowned facing busts of Michael II and Constantine; star in field above. DOC 29b; SB 1680. VF, green and brown patina, minor roughness.
Constantine, the elder son and heir of Theophilus, died in 831, but the quantity of folles struck with his portrait suggests that they were struck throughout the reign of Theophilus.
