KINGS of GALATIA. Amyntas. 39-25 BC. Æ 18mm (4.08 g, 12h). Draped bust of Artemis right, bow and quiver over shoulder / Stag standing right. SNG France 2365-71; RPC 3503. VF, dark brown patina with greenish overtones.

In 37/6 BC, Antony awarded Galatia to Amyntas, who continued to rule until his death in 25 BC. Artemis’ features here resemble those of Cleopatra VII of Egypt, possibly as a sign of deference to Antony and the Egyptian queen.
