SICILY, Syracuse. Second Democracy. 466-405 BC. AR Tetradrachm (17.11 g, 7h). Struck circa 430-420 BC. Charioteer, holding kentron in right hand and reins in both, driving slow quadriga right; above, Nike flying left, crowning charioteer with open wreath / Head of Arethusa right, wearing necklace, hair bound by four bands; four dolphins and ΣYPA-KO-ΣI-ON around. Boehringer series XXII, 680 (V339/R463); SNG ANS 225/224 (for obv./rev. dies); McClean 2681 (same dies); BMC 119 (same obv. die); Weber 1592 (same obv. die). Good VF, usual obverse die wear. Exceptionally broad flan for issue.
