ISLANDS off IONIA, Chios. Circa 380-350 BC. AR Tetradrachm (15.32 g, 11h). Poseidippo(s), magistrate. Sphinx seated left; to left, grape bunch above amphora / Quadripartite incuse square, with striated quarters and thick bands; ΠOΣEIΔIΠΠOY on horizontal band. Mavrogordato 48; Pixodarus 27 (same obv. die); SNG von Aulock -; SNG Copenhagen -; BMC 33. EF, lightly toned. Well centered on a broad flan of excellent metal. One of the finest known.
