ASIA MINOR, Uncertain. Circa 550-515 BC. AR 1/12 Stater (0.88 g). Persic standard. [...]VΛE[...]AIY, bird standing left on uncertain object (branch or crescent?) / Rough incuse square punch. Unpublished. Good VF, lightly toned. One of two known (the other in a private collection).
The inscription on this coin, while not linked to any known figure or location, is of a form highly similar to the early electrum issues of Phanes at Ephesos and the Lydian royal series at Sardis, suggesting an origin in Western Asia Minor.
