INDIA or AFRICA, Local Issues. Brass Obverse Die. Imitating Venice. In the name of Marcantonio Giustinian(?) 1684-1688. Dimensions: length, 19mm, of cylindrical form commencing 24 mm at the face and widening to 27 mm. Weight: 85.30 grams. Die engraved: S/I/S/I/K D/V/X IIVIOIVIZI (S's, K, and Z retrograde), St. Mark standing right, holding the Gospels and presenting flag to Doge kneeling left. Centering mark visible at center, die alignment mark at top. Cf. Ives pl. XVI, 1; cf. British Museum 1989.9.4.4068 (Valdettaro Bequest). EF, moderate signs of use wear. No coins struck with this obverse documented. Rare.
