Julia Maesa. Augusta, AD 218-224/5. AR Denarius (19mm, 3.29 g, 7h). Antioch mint. Draped bust right / Venus standing left, holding scepter and cornucopia; two pellets at end of legend. RIC IV -; BMCRE -; RSC -; Cohen -. VF, toned. Extremely rare variety, with only a few recorded specimens and apparently the only known struck from this reverse die. See CNG 51 (15 September 1999), lot 1373 for an example from same the obv. die and the accompanying note about another specimen from the British Museum (not in BMCRE).
