Julius Caesar. Autumn 45 BC. Æ Dupondius (28mm, 13.75 g, 12h). Rome or North Italian mint. C. Clovius, prefect. Draped bust of Victory right / Minerva advancing left, holding trophy, spear, and shield ornamented with gorgoneion; erect serpent at feet left. Crawford 476/1; CRI 62; Sydenham 1025; RPC 601/1. An unusual bronze issue for the period, this coinage was perhaps produced for distribution at Caesar’s Spanish triumph.
