Facing bust of Christ, raising hand in benediction, holding Gospels / Crowned facing busts of Petr, wearing chlamys, and Eirine (Maria) Lecapene, wearing loros, holding patriarchal cross between them. In 927 Petr married Maria, the daughter of Romanus I, in a diplomatic effort to establish peace between Bulgaria and the Byzantine Empire. To underscore the nature of the new relationship, Maria was renamed Eirine (“Peace”).
