SICILY, Syracuse. Deinomenid Tyranny. 485-466 BC. AR Tetradrachm (17.09 g, 7h). Struck under Gelon, circa 480-478 BC. Charioteer driving quadriga left; above, Nike flying left, crowning horses / Diademed head of Arethusa right; four dolphins around. Boehringer series VIa, 79E (V36/R43); SNG ANS 19 (same obv. die); Ward 246 (same dies). VF. Attractive style and well centered on a broad flan. Rare die combination, only the Ward example recorded in Boehringer.
