Julius Caesar and C. Cassius Longinus. 42 BC. AR Denarius (3.49 g, 3h). Geto-Dacian hybrid imitation, copying obverse type of C. Cassius Longinus, and reverse of Julius Caesar. Diademed and veiled bust of Libertas right / Elephant advancing right, trampling on horned serpent. Cf. Davis class A, group III (for series); cf. Crawford 500/5 (for obv. type) and 443 (for rev. type); cf. CRI 223 (for obv. type) and 9 (for rev. type); cf. Sydenham 1305 (for obv. type) and 1006 (for rev. type); cf. RSC 6 (Cassius, for obv. type) and 49 (Julius Caesar, for rev. type). Near VF, toned, flan crack. Very rare.
